THE CHARIOT Debut New Album Track, Launch Record Release Contest
February 19, 2007, 17 years ago
Atlanta based technical post hardcore/metal quintet THE CHARIOT have announced the premiere of a new song from their forthcoming album, The Fiancée, on Myspace.com and Purevolume.com today, Monday, February 19th.
The song holds special importance to the band, explains singer Josh Scogin, “The choice was really hard, but 'They Faced Each Other' is one of our favorite songs, and is a good definition for what to expect on the album, lyrically and musically. It has a lot of energy, a lot of the punk rock vibe, it got a really great response when we played it live in Europe for the first and only time on one of our rare encores. The kids weren’t leaving until we played another song, and we chose that one, and it stuck.”
The Chariot, who are set to release the aforementioned second full length The Fiancée in April 2007, are armed with technical skill, creativity and head-tripping unpredictability in song structures that places them on a post-hardcore plateau of their own. Their music utilizes guitar noise, squeals and dissonance as riffs that rarely repeat in the same song, fractured tempos, fluctuating rhythmic attacks and one of the most commanding and legitimately pissed off vocals since Tim Singer fronted DEADGUY. The Chariot just finished up a full European run with BECOMING THE ARCHETYPE and SHAPED BY FATE, and are about to head out on a US tour with NORMA JEAN and A LIFE ONCE LOST.
In correlation with the release of The Fiancée, The Chariot is holding a contest running now through February 26th, through Eventful.com, a popular website that will allow fans from 6 pre-selected cities to vote on where they want the band to have their record release show. Eventful.com just released a special portion of their website, Eventful Demand, which has been helping thousands of performers empower fans with the ability to influence where they perform, in this online voting scenario.
The Chariot was happy to take part in the new campaign, saying, "We are real excited about the idea of giving people a voice and letting them have the control over who they want to see and where. We wish something like this was in place years ago."
Fans from Atlanta, Nashville, Los Angeles, Dayton, Chicago and Hoboken, among others, will be able to compete, and they can vote by logging on to www.eventful.com/thechariot, www.myspace.com/thechariot, or www.thechariot.com until February 26 to demand that The Chariot plays their album release show in their town.
Composed of Josh Scogin, Jake Ryan (drums), Jonathan Terrey (guitar), Dan Eaton (guitar) and Jon (KC Wolf) Kindler (bass), The Chariot have been touring non-stop the last few years, and have cut their teeth supporting such diverse groups as HIGH ON FIRE, UNDEROATH, THROWDOWN, EVERY TIME I DIE, AS I LAY DYING and GWAR.
The Chariot plans to be out on tour all year in support of The Fiancee, so check www.toothandnail.com for tour updates and album news.
