BW&BK; has received the following press release:

The new kids on the block in the world of metal labels, Heavy Artillery have arrived to herald the return of traditional heavy metal and thrash metal. The inaugural release from the label that acts “as if the 90s never happened” is the debut full length from Los Angeles head-bangers MERCILESS DEATH. The album, entitled Evil In The Night, will hit the streets on Tuesday, March 20th to show the world that genuine metal is back with a vengeance. Taking cues from legendary bands such as EXODUS, DARK ANGEL and SLAYER, Merciless Death seamlessly combine the speed, aggression and musical prowess of those bands while creating a sound that is unmistakably their own. Evil In The Night also features the artistic mastery of renowned metal artist Ed Repka (MEGADETH, VENOM, DEATH, VIO-LENCE, etc.) and is sure to please the old school head bangers as well as a whole new generation of fans.

As the 90’s began to loom its shadow by way of grunge, pop punk and nu metal, thrash metal had evolved into death and black metal and quickly faded into obscurity, thought to be lost forever. As the 90s came to a close, commercialized, metal-inspired music began to once again captivate the attention of music fans everywhere, young and old. With this renewed interest, came a new generation of metal fans, hungry to trace their roots of true heavy metal.

Fast forward to 2003 where young L.A. head-bangers Dan Holder and Andy Torres, inspired by the sounds of early Slayer, Exodus and SEPULTURA, laid the groundwork for Merciless Death and with the addition of Andy’s younger brother Caesar they were off and running like bat out of hell.

In 2004 Merciless Death recorded and released their first three-song demo entitled Annihilate The Masses, which sold out of its pressing of 100 during their first few live appearances. As the band continued to make a name for itself throughout Southern California’s club circuit, word spread like wildfire throughout the scene, quickly establishing Merciless Death as the preeminent leaders of L.A.’s fast-growing contingent of young metal bands.

Headlining shows all along the west coast, Merciless Death have also opened for legendary bands such as OVERKILL, HIRAX, HALLOWS EVE, OMEN and many others. Look for Merciless Death on tour during summer 2007, dates coming soon. You’ve been forewarned!
