Strictly Heavy Management Signs Portugal's REQUIEM LAUS
February 27, 2007, 17 years ago
REQUIEM LAUS hailing from Funchal, Portugal, signed a personal management contract with Theresa Aldao and Bryan Hilyard’s artist development company Strictly Heavy Management (SHM) last week.
SHM has been managing rock and metal bands with exclusive worldwide contracts since 1995. Requiem Laus formed in 1994 under the name REQUIEM and released their first demo called Life Fading Existence. They released For Ones Who Died in 1996, which became a major cult item in underground tape trading circuits. Then, after a hiatus, 2000 saw the birth of Through Aeons, which catapulted them to the forefront of the Portugese metal scene. The bands entire Discography is listed on their official website (www.requiem-laus.com)
Requiem Laus performed throughout Portugal for two years, playing significant shows with AVULSED (Spain) and several Portuguese local bands like HUMANART, MYSTERIUM, KORMOSS, CYBORIUM DE PROFUNDIS and more. They ended up headlining many of these shows to lots of fanfare and support.
Now, bring us to 2006. RL released a brand new five song CD simply titled Promo 2006. The new release not only features the aesthetic of death metal, but also elements of Middle Eastern composition and the ethereal quality of symphonic black metal. The band goes for melody and atmosphere over punishing brutality. A new full-length entitled The Eternal Plague is in the works for a 2007 release. You can hear songs and interact with the band at their myspace page www.myspace.com/requiemlaus.
Requiem Laus has been a vital part of the Portuguese music scene and now it's time for the rest of the world to experience their vision.
