The NEC 1993 live album by rock band DEEP PURPLE has been withdrawn from sale after the singer told fans it was not worth buying. Ian Gillan said the CD featured one of the legendary group's worst ever concerts.
He and lead guitarist Ritchie Blackmore were barely speaking when the gig was recorded in Birmingham.
Gillan said: "It was coming to an end. It was awful. It was one of the lowest points of my life - all of our lives, actually. In fact, it lasted five or six shows after that show. Then Ritchie left the band. And we've had 13 years of stability ever since then."
Sony is checking why Gillan was not told of the release.
