BW&BK EXCLUSIVE: GRAVE DIGGER Vocalist Explains Fascination With "Scotch"

BW&BK; scribe Mark Gromen recently spoke with GRAVE DIGGER vocalist Chris Boltendahl. During their chat, the singer elaborated upon his fascination with "Scotch."
Eleven years ago, Grave Digger released Tunes Of War, an album recounting the Scottish fight for independence (from England), similarly depicted in the movie Brave Heart. On the new Liberty Or Death (Locomotive), the Germans revisit the subject, in 'Highland Tears'.
So Herr Boltendahl, what's the fascination with Scottish history for a German?
"The people are really proud. When you go there, they speak a different English than they do in Britain, or the US. It's a really cool dialect. They really don't care too much about all the shit that's happening in the world. There's great open landscapes. If you are there, you can imagine how it was, fighting. It's sort of depressive, raining a lot, everything's muddy. I like that. 'Highland Tears' is more of a tribute to one of our most successful albums. We tried to give, in one song, the atmosphere of women who'd cried in the fight.
