YAKUZA Offers Another Update On Forthcoming Record
March 28, 2007, 17 years ago
Chicago's YAKUZA has posted another update online regarding progress on the forthcoming album Transmutations here, featuring commentary and in-studio photos.
"The tracking and mix is complete," frontman Bruce Lamont said of the album's progress. "We had jazz percussionists Michael Zerang and Hamid Drake come in for a few songs, it was a serious fucking honor. Man, I can't even begin to tell you how happy we are with the results. The songs are varied as always, this will never change. I will have to say, the label is gonna have a good time trying to market this one! Sanford (Parker, producer) brought the sonic continuity we have been striving for since day one. I'm really proud of the dudes for steppin' up.""We've also got some video coming up soon," Lamont added. "It's our version of (METALLICA documentary) 'Some Kind Of Monster' Awh shit!"
Yakuza began demoing new material on February 28 at Semifour Studios in the band's hometown. Transmutations is being produced by Sanford Parker (PELICAN, MINSK, RWAKE), who made a guest appearance on the band's last release, Samsara. A fall 2007 release through Prosthetic Records is expected. The band will continue previewing new material live April 8 with GENGHIS TRON and labelmates Kylesa as well as supporting GOATWHORE on April 20.
