RockSomething.com recently caught up with 3 INCHES OF BLOOD bassist Nick Cates to discuss the band's forthcoming album, Fire Up The Blades. The following is a brief excerpt:
RockSomething: Your new album “Fire Up The Blades” is out on June 26. What’s it like?
Nick Cates: "This is definitely angrier and faster than what we’ve revealed on previous 3IOB albums, in my opinion. It’s also really melodic. The players on this album have really turned up the heat. There’s more variety than there’s ever been on a 3IOB album and it’s overall, more aggressive, but not in a hardcore way, you know? It’s very thrashy too."
RockSomething: You worked with (SLIPKNOT drummer/producer) Joey Jordison on this album, what was that like?
Nick Cates: "It’s great working with Joey, he’s a very cool guy, he’s been really awesome to work with. He’s an absolute encyclopaedia of metal, he knows everything about the genre and he certainly helped make these songs the best songs that they could physically be. He helped make the record great, but we already had the songs written before we met up with him, so the majority of what this album has become is really down to us guys and what we put in to it."
