HMAS.org recently caught up with INTO ETERNITY guitarist Tim Roth to discuss the band's recent and current touring activities, as well as their latest album The Scattering Of Ashes. The following is a brief excerpt:

HMAS.org: A lot of positive publicity was created via your slot on Gigantour last year. How much do you think being on that tour has impacted you guys?

Tim Roth: "Quite a bit. Even last night, at the show, there was a lot of people there that were from Gigantour. Usually after we play, we go to the merch table and sign and stuff, and sell shirts. Because we do everything ourselves – loading and shirts. I’m surprised at last night, especially how many people were from Gigantour. So I think that tour helped. Even if we were only playing in front of a 1,000 or 2,000 people at some venues, those are still big numbers for us. Luckily, at least we got third on the bill."

HMAS.org: You guys got about 20 minutes or so, right?

Tim Roth: "Yeah, 20 minutes. So, it is what it is. But it’s the best tour I’ve ever done, though. They totally took care of us, hanging out with the celebrities. It was awesome. Dave (Mustaine) was super cool to us, super cool. Very down to earth."

HMAS.org: It’s been close to six months since The Scattering Of Ashes was released. Overall, how has the reaction to it been in comparison to the rest of your discography?

Tim Roth: "This album is actually going to be our biggest album yet. We didn’t know what to expect, especially if you change a singer like we did. But, I think we just stepped it up a notch and made the album more aggressive. We didn’t sell out or anything. We still have our catchy choruses and our signature sound. It’s our best album, I think."

HMAS.org: With Stu Block replacing Chris Krall on The Scattering Of Ashes, what differences have you seen with Stu and the other lead singers that you’ve had?

Tim Roth: "Stu brings that trebly, high falsetto kind of voice. Chris had like a real warm voice, but so do I. So me and Chris were almost like the exact same singer. So now, it’s cool that we still have that same type of sound. That mid-range voice that I do, but Stu does all the high-pitched vocals and tons of death vocals. And he does the mid-range stuff, too, so he’s really versatile."

HMAS.org: Do you think this is the best line-up that Into Eternity has had?

Tim Roth: "Oh yeah, no question! I was telling the guys the other day – we just got a DVD from when we played in Montreal. As soon as I watched the whole thing, I said, 'This is easily the best line-up.' Everyone’s headbanging, nobody’s bored, and everyone wants to do it. I think that’s the difference. Everyone wants to tour."
