All the sounds at the 11th annual Leesburg Bikefest won't come from the roar of motorcycle engines. So many music events will blanket the city the weekend of April 27th - 29th that people will need only to walk a block or two to hear a different type of concert.

"It has become more than a bike- fest," said Joe Shipes, executive vice president of the Leesburg Partnership, which stages the event. "It has turned into a music fest, too."

Shipes said that at any given time, music acts will be performing on six different stages.

Headlined by heavy-metal stars QUIET RIOT and honky-tonk country-music favorites CONFEDERATE RAILROAD, Bikefest's entertainment also will feature TERRANCE SIMIEN AND THE ZYDECO EXPERIENCE and The Monsters In The Morning.

Quiet Riot, which will play from 9 to 11 PM April 28th, helped launch the metal-music scene in Los Angeles in the early 1980s. Their 1983 debut, Metal Health, was the first American heavy-metal album to reach No. 1 in the United States. The group's latest CD, Rehab, was released in 2006.

"We have gone from classic rock, such as Leon Russell, to newer music for younger people, our future market," Shipes said.

Confederate Railroad, which will perform from 9:30 to 11 PM April 27th, was named the Academy of Country Music's Best New Group in 1993. Difficult to pigeonhole, the group can play honky-tonk rock, emotional ballads and even the occasional humorous song. They are best known for songs such as 'Queen Of Memphis', 'Trashy Women' and 'Jesus And Mama'.

Terrance Simien of Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience is a songwriter and singer who has been compared to Sam Cooke and Aaron Neville. His group, along with Buckwheat Zydeco and the Sam Brothers, is credited with keeping traditional zydeco music alive.

The Monsters In The Morning, a group of radio personalities from 104.1 FM (WTKS), has one of the top-rated shows in Central Florida. Its band is known for its over-the-top antics and its redneck sense of humor.

Bikefest has a tradition of presenting local acts, Shipes said, and that continues with the return of the Justin Heet Band, Jim Van Fleet and the Reign and other bands from Orlando, Daytona Beach and Jacksonville.
