Original FASTER PUSSYCAT Vocalist TAIME DOWNE's Record Label Responds To Guitarist's Open Letter Inviting Him To Rejoin Band
April 23, 2007, 17 years ago
FASTER PUSSYCAT guitarist Brent Muscat recently issued an open letter (found here) to vocalist Taime Downe and guitarist Greg Steele inviting them to rejoin the band. Downe's record label Full Effect Records has responded with the following:
"In Brent Muscat’s open letter to Taime and Greg, he alleges the following:'P.S.: Faster Pussycat is a Trademark in accordance with the requirements of U.S. Trademark, Patent & Copyright Law. Additionally, Faster Pussycat is a Federally Registered Trademark as certified by the USPTO. Any use of the name Faster Pussycat without the express written consent of Brent Muscat shall result in severe civil and criminal prosecution.'
Is that trademark you flaunt all bark and no bite? The executives at www.fulleffectrecords.com will take great pride in tossing you your Milk Bone to gnaw on. Taime and Greg are waiting by their mail boxes for their royalty checks for all the merchandise you've been pimping for how many years? Additionally, each time you perform the songs Taime and Greg WROTE, (see examples below), we will be counting . . .
As far as your continued criticism regarding Taime’s musical validity, I believe they are selling the new Faster Pussycat album which rocks, by the way, at www.fulleffectrecords.com. Why do you not comprehend MUSICAL GROWTH? We don't believe the album is industrial at all.
Wikipedia describes 'Industrial music' as: “a loose term for a number of different styles of electronic and experimental music. First used in the mid-1970's to describe the then-unique sound of Industrial Records artists, a wide variety of labels and artists have since come to be called "Industrial". This definition may include avant-garde performance artists such as Throbbing Gristle, Einstürzende Neubauten, Coil and Laibach; noise projects like Merzbow or Sutcliffe Jugend or writers like William S. Burroughs and J.G. Ballard.'
I see no mention of Taime Downe in this definition. Just because he expanded his horizons, normally described as 'growth', and didn't remain stagnant, is a tribute to his talent, not a basis for ridicule, or is it jealousy and envy?
The new Pussycat record is just as sleazy, with songs like 'Sex, Drugs Rock and Roll', 'Number One With A Bullet', and 'Porn Star'. Additionally, MONSTER MAGNET's guitarist’s contributions to the CD were brilliant.
True Pussycat fans know the truth, the lawyers know the truth, and the truth shall set US free. Just keep posting and running your mouth, because each time you do, you’re just digging a deeper hole for yourself.
The public is welcome to check the copyright and publishing forms to see who wrote the songs here.
Unfortunately, we do not view your letter as a sincere attempt to resolve issues, but rather as a manipulative, self-serving, thinly veiled threat, as well as an attempt to elicit sympathy for your position.
Finally, in answer to your question, Taime feels it is irrelevant to engage in a conversation regarding 'joining' HIS OWN band."
