Dimebag Darrell Art Tribute Auction Raises Money For Charity

According to modernguitars.com, Hollywood California's House of Blues played host last night to the Six-String Masterpieces: The Dimebag Darrell Art Tribute auction in which 50 Dean ML electric guitars painted or otherwise customized by a variety of music, entertainment, and fine art celebrities were sold to benefit the Little Kids Rock project. Participating celebs included METALLICA's James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett, whose guitars raised $4,500 and $7,500, respectively, JOE SATRIANI ($2,500), Billy Gibbons ($2,500), Marilyn Manson ($6,250), Tom Morello ($1,800), OTEP ($1,700), ZAKK WYLDE ($6,250), and, Hank Williams, III ($2,000). The instrument painted by visual artist Mark Ryden that some thought (related story) could sell for more than ERIC CLAPTON's Blackie in light of the art market demand for Ryden's work, sold for $34,000. The Six-String Masterpieces project was produced and curated by Curse Mackey.
