Update: KISS To Be Featured On BBC Documentary Next Week

The new BBC documentary Seven Ages Of Rock will feature KISS in next week’s episode. Titled We Are The Champions, the episode will focus on socalled Stadium Rock from 1965 – 1993 and also includes LED ZEPPELIN, QUEEN and BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN to name a few.
Says director/producer Sebastian Barfield: “Stadium rock is not a genre - it exists somewhere far above the ebb and flow of genre and fashion, and is a term used to describe the music played by bands and artists as musically diverse as Led Zeppelin, Queen, THE POLICE or U2 - acts who can regularly perform to upwards of 50,000 people.”
“In a strictly musical sense, there is little that connects these bands - the hopped up glam riffs of KISS are far removed from the futuristic sonics of Bono and Edge. Rather, the link is in the outlook and actions of the musicians themselves. To start with, all these bands share a similar sense of ambition - a desire to use their music to connect with as many as they can. Showmanship is clearly a shared common element - all have figured out how to make a large stage work for them.”And he adds: “Gene Simmons charmed us with some of the most outrageous things committed to tape.” The episode airs next Saturday at 22:10 hours (European time) on BBC 2, and will re-run the next night on BBC 1.
Seven Ages Of Rock is a seven-episode documentary on the emergence of rock music as a global force, told through the musicians who have shaped the enduring genre. On tonight’s episode on BBC 1, titled Never Say Die: Heavy Metal (which actually is a re-run of yesterday’s airing on BBC 2) the only KISS sighting are images of three KISS albums that can quickly be seen while the PRMC is being discussed. Heavily featured on this episode are BLACK SABBATH, DEEP PURPLE, IRON MAIDEN, METALLICA and MÖTLEY CRÜE.
