InsideOut Music has issued the following press release:
Swedish Prog masters, THE FLOWER KINGS, have entered Varispeed Studios in southern Sweden to work on their 10th studio album entitled, The Sum Of No Evil. Varispeed is known for its vintage gear producing a great ‘70s sound and vibe.
“Altogether this album is a definite step back to what we did around Retropolis/Stardust/Flower Power,” says mainman Roine Stolt, “a more symphonic, melodic style with more keyboard/guitar interplay.“We're working on six songs,” continues Roine, “all just working titles: 'Love Is The Only Answer' a 26-min. epic, very symphonic in the vein of early TFK songs (think Stardust or Garden Of Dreams); 'Trading My Soul' cinematic melancholic ballad, big sound; 'Brimstoned Again' a Tomas Bodin instrumental with frantic drumming from Zoltan, as prog as it gets; 'We're Life In Motion' very upbeat and positive melodic TFK'ish 13-min track, possible closer of the set; 'Dukular', a very keyboard-oriented 13-min track that is close to early ELP, Genesis and Refugee, great catchy hook, Hasse sings; 'Sum Of No Reason' - a heavy riffing and very proggy melancholic 12-min tune, about religion, business and wars, think UK with Bozzio, lots of odd time signatures and polyrhythm, drop-tuning etc.”
To the surprise of a lot of fans, this album also features the return of Hungarian drumming prodigy, Zoltan Csorsz.
Look for The Flower Kings’ The Sum Of No Evil' in stores this October with a tour to follow.
