Although the BostonHerald.com is reporting that the proposed BOSTON reunion show to honor late singer Brad Delp on August 19th at the Bank Of America Pavilion in Boston may be in jeopardy, STRYPER singer Michael Sweet has issued the following statement regarding his participation in the special event:

"Tom Scholz and his wife, Kim, asked me if I would like to sing with the band at the last Boston performance. From what I understand, they we're approached by a number of singers (and thought about many as well). Tom called me personally to invite me to sing with the band at this final performance. Of course I was incredibly humbled and honored to say the least!

After much thought, they decided to have me sing a few songs. Mickey Thomas (JEFFERSON STARSHIP) will sing a few and SAMMY HAGAR will as well. It's been a real blessing to me during this time of hardship. Completely unexpected. Hopefully I'll do the songs justice.

Boston is a huge influence and one of the first records that made me say "whoa-wait a minute-what is this!". Brad Delp was one of the best vocalists in rock and a true original. It will be a joy to sing with the band."

As previously reported, concert promoters LiveNation sent out an announcement confirming the reunion this week. Included in the initial release was the news that the original members of Boston (drummer Sib Hashian, guitarist Barry Goudreau, bassist Fran Sheehan, guitarist/singer Fran Cosmo, and founding guitarist Tom Scholz) would “Come Together” for the first time in more than 20 years to perform in Delp’s honor.

But several hours later, LiveNation was forced to retract the release - and Scholz’s name was dropped. Word is, Scholz still hasn’t signed off on joining his former bandmates on stage to perform 'Don’t Look Back' at the conclusion of the concert.

Sets by GODSMACK, Delp's BEATLES tribute band BEATLEJUICE, and guest spots from CHEAP TRICK's Robin Zander and EXTREME's Gary Cherone are also being planned for the event.
