The only thing missing from this concert was people swinging lighters back and forth in the air. It was like a summer concert at the Tweeter Center inside the Hanover Middle School gym last Thursday (June 14), when staff and students were treated to a rock concert featuring a bassist who toured with AEROSMITH.

“I thought it was awesome!,” said Jonathan Barry, 11, a fifth-grade student. “All the intensity, all the kids screaming and the band rocking.”

His classmate Matthew Scarpelli, 11, also enjoyed the six-song set. “Some of the songs are really cool,” Scarpelli said. “The thing I though was the most fun was doing the wave.”

David Griffin, 10, agreed. “It was really good. Everyone was having a great time.”

Jazna Stannard, 14, an eighth-grade student, had a blast. “It was awesome,” she said. “The fifth graders were really getting into it and the eighth graders were like, oh we want to be cool.” But even the older students were standing and doing the wave by the last song.

The kids cheered, screamed, waved and danced from their seats in the bleachers. One kid in a light blue polo shirt attempted to head bang.

Musician David Hull, who played bass for Aerosmith during part of the band’s 2006 tour, visited the school to talk to kids about a career in music and to play a few tunes for them. He teamed up with musician and substitute teacher Paul Doolittle, of Crossroads Music, on guitar, Tom Corshia on drums and Jimmy Rogers on vocals for a one-day old rock band they called the David Hull Project. They played some classic rock tunes, such as 'Toys In The Attic' by Aerosmith, 'Rock ‘N Roll' by LED ZEPPELIN and some tunes by Hull’s newest band FARRENHEIT, like “Soul in Motion.”

Hull is also known for his work with the JOE PERRY PROJECT.
