London, England-based rock/blues/folk outfit THE FLUFFY JACKETS, who recently announced that legendary bassist and founding member of WHITESNAKE, Neil Murray, is currently recording with the band, have issued the following update via their here page:

"Two tracks from the debut Fluffy Jackets demo recording featuring Black Sabbath/ Whitesnake bassist Neil Murray have now been uploaded...

We are pleased to update two tracks from the first Fluffy Jackets demo featuring special guest Neil Murray. The demo features a high-octane cover version of NAZARETH's 'Salty Salty', from their 1986 album release Cinema and a self-penned southern blues-rock slide guitar number called 'Beale Street'.

About the recording; The Fluffy Jackets session was recorded "live" in the studio, which means that the songs were recorded in one take and what you hear on these songs are basically a 3-piece band rocking it out. The only overdubs we made were to add lead guitars parts and chorus vocal. The tracks were recorded at the Cowshed Studio, North London, and mixed by Teo Miller (BLUR, HAPPY MONDAYS).

In terms of bass equipment, I used a Gibson Les Paul Standard guitar plugged into a 2x50 watt Marshall amp, Ian rocked out on his Tama Rockstar Custom drum kit with Sabian cymbals and Neil used his SKC Bogart bass guitar through a bass amp and cabinet. All tracks are recorded on analogue equipment and subsequently transferred to digital media.

Neil Murray is the legendary bassist and founding member of Whitesnake from its beginning in 1978 up to and including their 1987 album. He has also been a member of GARY MOORE's band (1982-3) and a member of Black Sabbath for 3 years in the late 80s and mid-90s.
