KNAC.com has issued the following press release:

"Legendary pure rock air personality Tawn Mastrey is fighting to stay alive. Tawn worked at KNAC FM from 1986-89. She suffers from Hepatitis C and is in need of a liver. She recently quit her job at Sirius Radio due to her health. Tawn's sister Cara is spearheading a fund raiser for Tawn, who has no insurance.

Today (June 28th), Tawn called in to the KNAC.com studio, put on her best radio voice, and spoke to former KNAC FM colleague, Philthy Phil. She revealed that she hates being a burden to others, but, as her sister Cara, who was also on the phone pointed out, the search for a donor is an expensive process, not to mention the several expensive visits to medial specialists in Minneapolis and Los Angeles.

Tawn also revealed that a new website, TawnMastreyBenefit.com, will be launched in a day or two, and would feature updates on Tawn's condition, and a place where people who are moved to do so, could donate money, either to help with Tawn's mounting medical expenses, or with a charity that helps people in similar situations. Tawn also mentioned that a 'major artist', who she cannot reveal by name yet, has contacted her with the intent of doing an arena show with major acts to raise awareness and proceeds that can help with Tawn's expenses.

To further illustrate Tawn's mounting expenses, shortly after completing the 15 minute chat on KNAC.com, Tawn was rushed to a local emergency room in severe pain. We are waiting word on how she's doing.

Also in on the air, in the studio today during the interview, Artist, TV Producer Robbie Robfogel offered his perspective on surviving Hep C. He received a donated liver and completely recovered from the disease. As a long-time friend of Tawn's, Robfogel is putting on a benefit concert for Tawn July 28th at the Martini Blue nightclub in Huntington Beach, CA. Several local bands are booked, but the word is, Robfogel is getting constant calls from major artists who just want to be there, and the hope is that the night of music and generosity will end with a giant all-star jam on stage. More to come.
