July 8, 2007, 16 years ago

hot flashes news

Last week, Canada's Moshpit Tragedy Records announced it will give away one of its out-of-print releases for free download from their web site each week for eight weeks.

Moshpit Tragedy co-founder Rayny Forster comments: "Our first eight releases are now out of print and as both a thank you and as a kind of final push to get these releases into the hands of underground music fans, we're offering a high-quality download of one release per week in its entirety — absolutely free of charge. We invite those who missed out on the physical product to check out the bands and enjoy these free mp3s."

Starting off the second week (July 8-14) of the promotion will be Hungarian thrashers STEP ON IT, with the 28 intense blasts that comprised their 2006 effort Allschool Monster which was released as part of Moshpit Tragedy's DIY Series.

Step On It was founded in Budapest, Hungary in 2004 and since that time has already brought their "allschool" blend of all things thrash across Europe several times to the stage with bands such as EXTEME NOISE TERROR, RATOS DE PORAO, JESUS CRUST, FILTPACT, ERROR, BATHTUB SHITTER and more. The band will open the stage for Misery Index on July 17 at Kultiplex in Budapest.

Moshpit Tragedy Records free download schedule is as follows:

July 1-7: NO SOULS LOST "These Dead Years"

July 8-14: STEP ON IT "Allschool Monster"

July 15-21: CREATIVE WASTE "Colonies"

July 22-28: THE PARANOID "Demography"

July 29-Aug 4: CORPROPHEMIA "Demo"

August 19-25: Various Artists "Moshpit Tragedy Presents"

Moshpit Tragedy Records first began doing concert promotions in the mid-Nineties and over the next seven or eight years booked punk and metal bands such as DAYGLO ABORTIONS, FUCK THE FACTS, BLOODSHOT EYE, WOODS OF YPRES, BILE, NOCTURNE, BUNCHOFUCKINGOOFS, BLOODLET, AS FRIENDS RUST, DIRTY BIRD, OX BAKER, THE VIDEO DEAD and many more. The name came about after one of these shows when co-founder Rayny Forster (ex-HULLUUS, THE POSERS) was brought to the emergency room and a doctor dubbed him a "moshpit tragedy." In 2006, Forster and Katy Lesperance (ex-DUMPSTER DRUNX) began screenprinting skateboards and tshirts and the decade-old idea of becoming a label came into place. After releasing a few local projects the idea branched out and bands as far as Hungary and Saudi Arabia were released.

In March 2007, Moshpit Tragedy Records (who have signed an exclusive North American distribution deal with Cargo Music, Inc.) reissued the out-of-print Ale To England EP from U.K. crust act EXTINCTION OF MANKIND. The CD features new cover art and nine bonus tracks, captured live at an annual celebration of the life of Wayne Southworth, late singer of the influential U.K. crust band DOOM.
