AEROSMITH Concert In PEI "Not Moving Anywhere"
July 10, 2007, 17 years ago
According to Theguardian.pe.ca, The Blast At The Beach concert featuring AEROSMITH will not be blasting off to a new venue.
David Carver, the concert’s promoter, described a report that the concert was being moved from the Charlottetown Driving Park Entertainment Centre to the Charlottetown Airport as a “rumour.”
But The Guardian has learned Carver had approached Charlottetown city council about moving the July 21 concert last Friday.
Sources at City Hall say the issue was supposed to go to council Monday night, but Carver called back Monday to say the concert was staying put and the issue was not discussed by city council.
Doug Newson, the CEO of the Charlottetown Airport, refused to comment on suggestions the mega-concert was going to the airport. He referred all inquiries in Carver.
Carver did not say, in his e-mail correspondence with The Guardian, why he was considering moving the concert. The 10-hour music celebration features Aerosmith, CHEAP TRICK, CIARA, CHRISTA BORDEN, and SERENA RYDER. A website for the concert says 20,000 tickets have been sold “off-Island.” A limited number of regular priced tickets are still being sold, the website says.
