Candlelight Records reports:

DISTORTED sign to Candlelight...

Formed in 1996, Distorted started life in Israel as a metal band consisting of three high school friends: Raffael Mor (Vocals, guitars) Benny Zohar (guitars) and Ori Ehsel (drums). Two years later Miri Milman (vocals) and later on Guy Shalom (bass) joined with the group. With this line-up now in place they set about recording their debut three-track demo.

The band performed at small venues in Tel-Aviv, and during 2000 recorded a second demo with two brand new songs: 'Almost Dead' and 'Sometimes'. A single named 'Is it the Wind' was also recorded at the winter of 2003.

The band continued to perform alongside local and international bands such as EDGUY, MEGADETH, DESTRUCTION, ORPHANED LAND, SALEM, BETZEFER, etc. and a rabid and dedicated following throughout their home country was soon in place.

2004 was dedicated entirely to writing new material for the debut album. Only two songs from the early demo recordings survived, 'Children of Fall' and 'Sometimes', both with major differences as the band honed their style to a more aggressive direction.

The debut album entitled Memorial was recorded at Underground Studio, Vasteras- Sweden and mastered at 'ailor Maid's production on February 2005.

A short time after the recordings Distorted had parted ways with Ori Ehsel and had been playing with a session drummer ever since.

The band had signed for distribution deal with NMC Records (IL) and Bad Reputation label (France) for its debut album, which was released on May 2006 to great plaudits throughout the metal world. Their brand of progressive and melodic death metal found them being compared to bands of the quality of DARK TRANQUILLITY, OPETH and NEVERMORE, all encompassed with a middle eastern flavour thanks to the exotic vocals of lead vocalist Miri Milman.

To promote the release, the band continued to play their home country and also played outside of Israel for the first time, touring France, Belgium and Holland with ABORTED during February 2007. The band’s next appearance outside their home country will be at the MFVF 5 (Metal Female Voices Festival) In Belgium which will take place at Wieze on October 20th, 2007.

Distorted signed a three album, worldwide deal with Candlelight Records in July 2007 and are presently working on their second album. Recording is set to start during the end months of 2007 for an early 2008 release.
