On August 19th, at the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston, there will be a very special tribute concert for late BOSTON frontman Brad Delp. Boston-based scribe Deb Rao recently discussed the upcoming benefit with former lead singer of the JOE PERRY PROJECT, Charlie Farren. Charlie will be performing with his band FARRENHEIT. Other acts on the bill include EXTREME, GODSMACK, ORION THE HUNTER and RTZ, along with guest vocalists Michael Sweet of STRYPER, Mickey Thomas of the JEFFERSON STARSHIP, SAMMY HAGAR, ERNIE & THE AUTOMATICS, FAHRENHEIT and Delp's BEATLES tribute band BEATLEJUICE.

Charlie Farren emerged onto the national scene in the early '80s after teaming up with Aerosmith lead guitarist Joe Perry. In 1986, Charlie, along with Dave Hull (Joe Perry Project) and John "Muzz" Muzzy, formed Farrenheit and released a self titled debut album on Warner Brothers. Three singles from that album, 'Fool in Love', 'Bad Habit', and 'Lost in Loveland', as well as video exposure on MTV and extensive touring, established the band as one of the premier new rock acts, and won the band awards and kudos across the country. More importantly it won the band fans, who responded to the potent combination of well-written songs delivered by a powerful, veteran rock trio.

“We signed with Warner Brothers on the strength of our song-writing and performance”, explains Farren. "Farrenheit really never fit with the big hair and tattoo crowd that emerged shortly after the debut Farrenheit CD came out in 1987. It probably why that CD still sounds fresh, and why the songs still work”

Charlie Farren has also appeared as a guest artist on recordings by BAD COMPANY, BOSTON, PETER WOLF, ARTHUR BAKER, NONA HENDRIX, and others. He also has performed the national anthem for the New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox, and other professional soccer, hockey and basketball games.

Says Farren "Farrenheit has been writing for a new recording, our first studio project in many years - the material is perfect - folks are going to like this new record! Watch for the new Farrenheit CD - out early next year on FMan Media."

About participating in the Brad Delp tribute, Farren comments: "Brad was a good friend, and he was a key member of our circle of musical friends - some of whom have joined together to do this musical tribute to a great fellow and terrific musician who is greatly missed. The lineup: Ernie Boch and the Automatics, Beatlejuice, Farrenheit, Godsmack, Extreme, RTZ/Orion The Hunter, Boston - all great bands and musicians, friends, and important artists - is really assembling to celebrate music, friendship, and art in honor of Brad, but also in reaffirmation of our own connections with one another, and recognition that there is a special chemistry there which is important to all of us. I should also mention that The Fools, while not performing as themselves, are and important part of the mix as well."
