In 2001, MÖTLEY CRÜE's official biography, The Dirt - Confessions Of The World's Most Notorious Rock Band, was published and went on to become a best seller. For the last five years, there have been numerous reports about adapting the book into a feature film. Mötley bassist Nikki Sixx spoke exclusively to BW&BK; scribe Aaron Small about the current status of The Dirt - The Movie.

“I’m in no hurry, and I know Mick (Mars, guitarist) is in no hurry. We both agree we’re not in a hurry to make a bad movie. We had really cool producers and directors interested. They were ready to sign on but the budget was $70 million. We’re not going to make a $70 million movie. It isn’t a reality. We don’t want something that polished. We want something a lot edgier and the chances of something like that being able to make money back for the companies, as a business model makes no sense. It’s like the GUNS N’ ROSES record Axl is making (Chinese Democracy). I don’t care how many records that thing sells, it’s still going to be in debt. That’s the reality. I hate to break that to fans but you have to look at how much something costs to make and then how much you make out of it. We have bills. I have a mortgage. I have a car payment. My kids need new clothes every year. We don’t work for free, but we will work for the betterment of the art. So then we brought in another guy who was amazing, but he wanted to do some rewrites. We said ok, have some freedom and get in there. The rewrite came back and he got fired from MTV. It was way long. So now we’re back in the midst of talking to directors. I’m personally in no hurry. This story can be told last year and it can be told in two years from now. It’s the story of survival.”

As far as new music from the Crüe, according to Nikki, "Mick and I talk all the time. He has a bunch of riffs and ideas. I have a bunch of ideas. We’re going to get together and start compiling, just the ideas. It’s going to take time to put music together.”
