hot flashes news piledriver

The Exalted Piledriver, lead 'vo-kill-ist' for Canadian thrash legends PILEDRIVER, will be interviewed 'live' this Friday, September 7 on WJCU's Metal On Metal show in Cleveland at 8:30 p.m. (EST). The program can be heard in the Northeast Ohio area at 88.7 FM and worldwide at here. The "exalted one" will be talking about the band's recent reformation, reveal the mystery of the band's secret past, their new studio album "Metal Manifesto" and forthcoming live Cleveland appearance.

Piledriver shocked and awed the metal world with the release in 1984 on Roadrunner Records of their now infamous "Metal Inquisition" album. The album featured songs such as 'Witch Hunt', 'Sex With Satan', 'Sodomize The Dead', 'Human Sacrifice', 'Alien Rape' and the classic title track. Garnering rave reviews and brisk sales (reportedly nearly 500,000 to date), Metal Inquisition quickly became one of the best underground metal albums of the decade. Through it all and with rumors flying rampant in the metal underground, the band members' identities remained a mystery. In 1986, Piledriver released their second album on Roadrunner entitled Stay Ugly. The album was a progression of aggression, featuring a trashier-thrashier sound but still maintaining the sick level of humor fans were expecting. Then suddenly and without warning, Piledriver disappeared for two decades. Over the years, the legend of Piledriver grew and grew. Finally, after years of hibernation, the band has returned to play live shows and record new material. The current lineup is: The Exalted Piledriver (vokills), Kinky Pork Cream (guitars), Lobo Elf Schnort (bass) and Glace Frothfritter (drums). The band toured Europe earlier this year and is working on a new studio album entitled Metal Manifesto. Their next live show will be in Cleveland on September 15.

We're lookin' forward to finally droppin' jaws in Cleveland for the metal freeks!!!", says The Exalted Piledriver. "Can't wait to pound it down with our friends ANVIL and DESTRUCTOR again, and cowering adoringly at the knees of RAVEN, one-o-my-teenage-faves!!! We'll be trotting out a few new ones, too! A real short n' sweet face-ripper called 'Volatile', and the grave-groovin' blood-bucket fillin' 'When I Saw Yer Face"! Did I mention I CAN'T FUCKIN' WAIT????"

The Metal On Metal 25th Anniversary Concert is set to take place Saturday, September 15 at the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland, Ohio. Headlining the event will be RAVEN (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal legends), ANVIL (Canadian metal veterans and Cleveland favorites who released the classic Metal On Metal album in 1982), Piledriver (the Metal Inquisition rides again! Canada's '80s underground thrashers' first-ever Cleveland appearance.) and DESTRUCTOR (Cleveland's thrash metal legends!). All four bands will be doing full headlining sets. Each is working on, or soon will be releasing, a new studio album. RAVEN are currently in the studio and have just revealed the title to their new album as "Walk Through Fire" (tentative release date of next Spring). Anvil's new album, This Is Thirteen, has just been released on their own label and will be available for sale at the show. Piledriver are working on their new Metal Manifesto release. A release date has not been set. Destructor's new Forever In Leather CD will be released on Auburn Records later this month. Cleveland bands MANIMALS, SOULLESS and LICK THE BLADE will open up the festivities.

The concert will celebrate the 25th anniversary (1982-2007) of Bill Peters' Metal On Metal radio program, heard every Friday night in Cleveland on WJCU 88.7 FM and streamed live worldwide at www.wjcu.org. The very popular underground radio program has featured import and independent heavy metal for parts of the past three decades. 2007 also marks the 25th anniversary of ANVIL's now-classic "Metal On Metal" album, which was released on Attic Records in 1982 and the theme song of the radio program.

Set times have just been announced: LICK THE BLADE (5:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m.), SOULLESS (5:50 p.m.-6:35 p.m.), MANIMALS (6:55 p.m.-7:40 p.m.), DESTRUCTOR (8:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m.), PILEDRIVER (9:20 p.m.-10:20 p.m.), ANVIL (10:40 p.m.-11:40 p.m.) and RAVEN (Midnight-1:00 a.m.).
