MEGADETH - New Audio Interview With DAVE MUSTAINE Available
September 28, 2006, 18 years ago
A short audio interview with MEGADETH frontman/founder Dave Mustaine is now available here. It was conducted a few weeks ago by Shockwaves magazine editor Bob Nalbandian.
As previously reported, Mustaine addressed the Montreal school shooting issue before 6,700 fans when the Gigantour hit the Bell Center on September 27th. Before, the 1st encore – 'A Tout Le Monde' – the song the Montreal school shooter claimed was his inspiration for his actions… Mustaine had the local TV media wait around to film his address (and the full performance of the song) to the crowd.
In his, speech Mustaine explained that he and his band first heard of the school shooting from TV on the band’s bus. He found the horrible acts to particularly hit home since he has a great fondness for Montreal and its fans as well as currently having two band members who come from Montreal.
He mentioned that not only was he shocked and horrified, but disgusted that the shooter tried to drag him into it. He said that anybody who would do this is not a fan of Megadeth and does not want him as a fan of the band. He added that his heart goes out to the victims and wishes them all to get well soon.
For the girl that died, he said he knew she was in heaven looking down on that scum in hell and added that he knows the shooter will burn in hell for eternity (which got a huge cheer from the audience). With that, he asked the crowd to sing the song with him. So with lighters held high – the 6,700 in attendence turned in the most emotional performance of 'A Tout Le Monde' ever. In fact, it was extended to let the crowd sing the chorus multiple times.
Side note: As they have on previous Gigantour stops, Megadeth also palyed 'Washington Is Next' from their upcoming album.
