DEF LEPPARD's official site reports:

"As we reported earlier, (guitarist) Vivian (Campbell) will be making an appearance in Washington next Saturday (October 20th), but not in his usual role as guitar hero - this time, it'll be as one of the players for football club Hollywood United, taking on Major League Soccer team DC United. Although Viv is used to play for thousands of people, this time it's a little different for him: "I can't believe that I'm actually gonna be playing in front of thousands next to all these ex-pros! I've been trying to play as much football as possible since I got home in an effort to avoid major embarassment next week....."

Although his official Hollywood United headshot shows him as a confident player (see photo on left), Vivian does seem to be a little worried: "Actually, I'm really petrified about the game..... I've never been in front of that many people without a guitar to hide behind!"

Alas, nothing to be ashamed of. After all, DC United are professionals and won the MLS Cup in 1997. Yet still, Viv's experience with performing in front of thousands doesn't seem to be relevant: "Nervous.....? Moi??"

DC United vs. Viv's Hollywood United is the pre-game to DC's match against Columbus Crew, a tribute match to honor United legend Marco Etcheverry and celebrate the 10-year anniversary of DC winning the MLS Cup. Game and ticket info can be found here."
