HELSTAR - A Look Inside Sins Of The Past
October 16, 2007, 17 years ago
LivingForMetal.com recently caught up with HELSTAR's James Rivera and Larra Barragan to discuss the band's new album, Sins Of The Past, featuring re-recorded Helstar classics as well as two brand new songs, 'Tormentor' and 'Caress Of The Dead'. In the following excerpt the pair discuss the inspiration for 'Caress Of The Dead':
James Rivera: "Larry Barragan came up with the song title 'Caress Of The Dead'. It was supposed to be an instrumental song, we were reaching out to deliver two real strong songs to put on the record and somehow I guess in the jam room we were playing with the music and having ideas for vocals and the title was a situation where it mades us simultaneously think about necrophilia."
Larry Barragan: "Actually the originally thought was like maybe vampire again."
James Rivera: "Yeah, or maybe something closer to Alice Cooper 'Love It To Death' or 'I Love The Dead'. Then it made me think about a story I saw on True Crimes or Unsolved Mysteries that was about this weird doctor who fell in love with this patient that died on him and he convinced the family to letting him preserve her body and try to figure out where he went wrong, but all he was doing was committing sinful acts with this pinata pretty much (laughs)!"
"You can look it up online it's a true story about a guy who took a body and preserved it and ties it's bones with piano wire, replaced it's eye's with glass eye's, put a tube inside it so he would have sex with it. They found him and busted him and came and took her away from him and he was pretty upset..."Go to this location for the complete story.
