Swedish '80s metal legends OVERDRIVE is currently in Sound Palace Studios mixing the new album, Let The Metal Do The Talking, their first album in 24 years. The release is set to January 2008, on Lion Music. The band’s two previous studio albums Metal Attack (1983) and Swords And Axes (1984) were re-issued by High Vaultage in 2003.

“We have now started mixing the new album Let The Metal Do The Talking with producer Johan Blomström (Blinded Colony, Calm, Kaptain Sun etc) and it's going great! He's captured the good old 80s essence of the band, but still provided freshness and power to the production. Old fans won’t be disappointed and hopefully we’ll find a new generation of fans, too”, says the band and adds there will be the usual range of Overdrive styles, from high speed metal, to doom oriented riffing and of course the traditional instrumental track.

The line-up features original members Janne Stark (guitar), Kjell Jacobsson (guitar), Kenth Ericsson (bass) and Kenta Svensson (drums) plus former UNCHAINED singer Per “Periloz” Karlsson, who joined the band when they reformed in 2004.

Some words about the songs:

'Army Of Darkness' (Ericsson) - "A new rocker in the same high speed metal vein as the classic 'Back On The Hunt” with a haunting harmony solo."

'Fight To The Finish' (Stark) - "Power chord metal stomper originally written back in 1985."

'Chasing Highways' (Stark/Karlsson) - "Up tempo metal song, featuring Periloz first writing contribution to the band."

'Lodestar' (Jacobsson/Stark) - "An unorthodox, and for Kjell quite typical, mix of styles from doomy riffs to melodic parts."

'Den of Iniquity' (Stark) - "The album’s instrumental track dedicated to all metal zines. Fast pace riffing and loads of guitars!"

'Trapped Under Ice' (Jacobsson/Stark) - "Written for Overdrive’s third album back in 1985, mid-tempo melodic metal."

'Deceived' (Ericsson) - "A new and very heavy, slightly doom-oriented track penned by Kenth."

'Bring Me To Submission' (Stark) - "A newly penned driving metal number with some angry chords."

'Reincarnation' (Stark) - "10 minutes of everything from slow doom to riffing to Maiden-style plodding metal and a slow soft ending featuring guest singer Chris Catena."

'Gravy Train' (Jacobsson/Stark) - "Another Jacobsson number from the 1985 writing session, finally gets a makeover."

'Let The Metal Do The Talking' (Jacobsson/Stark) - "Straight ahead no nonsense heads down metal! The title says it all!"

'Sinister Warfare' (Stark) - "Up-tempo riff-oriented metal number with a half speed heavy chorus."

The CD will also include a bonus - the video for Back On The Hunt (2006 version). The CD cover is made by Monowasp (TNT, DANTE FOX) and also follows in the fine old Overdrive tradition.
