Mirror.co.uk is running a LED ZEPPELIN retrospective this week. Day 2 reads as follows:

When news broke that Led Zeppelin were re-forming for a reunion gig on British soil, the website handling the ticket ballot crashed under the weight of a billion hits from eager fans.

Almost 30 years has passed between the show at London's O2 Arena on December 10 and their last UK gig at Knebworth Park in 1979 but the appetite for their music seems as strong as ever.

Speaking for the first time about the new concert, guitarist Jimmy Page says: "I knew there would be a demand for tickets but I hadn't expected that sort of overwhelming demand.

"It's wonderful that people hold Zeppelin in that sort of regard."

Jason Bonham, son of the band's drummer John, whose death in 1980 caused the band to break up, will be playing the drums at the reunion gig.

Page says: "We had the first rehearsal in May or June just to get together and see how we got on and whether it would be a goer and straight away it was Boom!"

Sadly for the millions of fans who can't get tickets to the gig, the band have said this will be the very last time they'll play together.

"At the moment I'm told we're doing one gig," says Page. "That's a bit unfortunate for all the people that would have liked to have seen us, but I can understand why some of the other members don't want to be touring."

Bearing in mind some of the stories about the band's past tours, perhaps that is not surprising. Page confirms that he once went without sleep for five nights running in the middle of their 1973 American tour.

Now a 63-year-old grey-haired grandad, Page says: "Yes. I remember that. What you have to understand is that playing in Led Zeppelin was a musician's dream. "It was euphoric.

"And we were playing for around three hours a night, so you can't just switch off the adrenalin."
