LEATHERWOLF Inviting Guitarists To Audition For Vacant Position, Audio Files Available
December 9, 2007, 16 years ago
LEATHERWOLF have issued the following update:
"Quite a few of you have inquired about auditioning for the currently vacant lead guitar slot in Leatherwolf and we appreciate the interest. Here is Step 1 of what we need you to do:
Listen to/download 'Grail 1' on our MySpace player - that's Geoff's outro lead in 'The Grail' off 'New World Asylum.' Then download 'The Grail 2' which is the same section but without the lead. Give us/record your take, upload it, and let us know where we can listen to it.
We are not looking for a total note-fore-note rendition per se (although that would be nice) but we want to hear fluidity, style, and some serious chops!
If on top of shredding that lead you can also sing backup, have songwriting skills compatible with the classic Leatherwolf style, live in the SoCal/OC era, know how to rock on stage, have at least somewhat of a rock image, and are not a substance abuser you just may be our man.
We look forward to hearing (from) you."
As previously reported, Leatherwolf parted ways with guitarist Geoff Gayer in November following Gayer's on-tour "alcohol-induced stupor" in Italy "that will go down as the most embarrassing performance in the long history of Leatherwolf. We will spare you the details but it was ugly - now we know how the members of UFO must have felt like every time Michael Schenker had one of his 'episodes.'"
Leatherwolf have re-released their World Asylum album featuring original singer Mike Olivieri on lead vocals. The album is now called New World Asylum and can be purchased via PayPal. Prices are $20.00.- (US residents) and $22.00.- (rest of the world). Shipping & handling is included. All orders will be sent via certified mail. The PayPal address dean.rob@mac.com.
Audio samples of 'Behind the Gun', 'Dr. Wicked', 'The Grail', and 'Never Again' with Olivieri can be found at this location.
According to a previous post, Leatherwolf's decision to re-record World Asylum "has nothing to do with us being unhappy with Wade (Black)'s performance on the album - we still think he did a great job. But now that we have Mike back we decided it was worth having him sing on the songs; Mike loved the record when he first heard it and was eager to re-cut the vocals once he decided to re-join."
