Wales-based band DARE, headed up by former THIN LIZZY member Darren Wharton, is set to release two albums, Belief and Beneath The Shining Water, on Rock Ridge Music on May 20th. Says Wharton: "For most bands in the UK and Europe, having an album released in America is the ultimate dream. For this reason, I feel extremely honored and proud that Dare's last two albums, Belief and Beneath the Shining Water, are being released in the US on Rock Ridge Music.

It was when Wharton decided to move away from his hometown of Manchester to the beautiful mountains of North Wales that Dare's current lineup and musical vibe took shape. Settling in the majestic Snowdonia National Park, Wharton quickly set about building his own recording studio. Dare's sound was informed and inspired by the haunting natural beauty of these surroundings -- a new, atmospheric, Celtic feel started to emerge, which can be found among the tracks on both records. Belief" featured the hit first single 'White Horses', which was play listed by UK legendary DJ, Sir Terry Wogan, on the UK's largest national radio station, BBC Radio 2. Beneath the Shining Water" is a modern classic -- original, yet instantly addictive. Thought-provoking and passionate, while still retaining a dark rock edge, Wharton pushed back the musical boundaries to reveal his uniquely-inspiring voice and music.

Formerly signed to A&M; in the UK, Dare recorded their debut album, Out Of The Silence, in Los Angeles at singer JONI MITCHELL's private studio in Beverly Hills. After this highly-acclaimed first release, Dare's live performances soon earned them a cult following throughout Europe, opening forLED ZEPPELIN's Jimmy Page, Gary Moore, and Scandinavian rockers EUROPE. Playing extensively in Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Spain, Belgium, Italy, France, England and Ireland, Dare were now an established band in their own right. Back in Los Angeles, Dare's second album, Blood from Stone, was produced by renowned L.A. producer Keith Olsen (WHITESNAKE, THE SCORPIONS) and had a much harder edge than the previous Out Of The Silence.

Wharton got his start in the music business at the age of 17 when he joined the legendary Irish rock band Thin Lizzy and recorded the famous Chinatown album. The young musician from Manchester soon found himself touring extensively throughout Europe, America, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. After a year of selling out concert halls around the globe, Thin Lizzy once again returned to the studio. Now as an established member of the band, Wharton was about to embark on his second Thin Lizzy album, Renegade. After co-writing 'Angel of Death' with Phillip Lynott, Wharton's talent for songwriting began to emerge. Several world tours later, Darren went on to co-write 'The Sun Goes Down', 'This is the One', 'Heart Attack', and 'Someday She's Gonna Hit Back' on the explosive album Thunder and Lightning.
