IN FLAMES - A Sense Of Purpose Debuts At #7 On Canadian Soundscan Charts!

Swedish metal band IN FLAMES’ new release, A Sense Of Purpose, has debuted at #7 on the Canadian Soundscan Charts, selling nearly 4,000 units! The album also debuted at #2 on the Canadian Indie Charts and #1 on the Canadian Hard Rock charts.

In the US, the album hit #28 on Billboard's Top 200 chart this week, shifting over 20,000 units in its first week of sales. A Sense Of Purpose, the quintet's debut release for Koch Records, and ninth full length album overall, is the highest charting record in the band’s sales history.

A Sense Of Purpose also debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Independent Album chart and #2 on Billboard’s Hard Music chart. In Flames recently smash both the Swedish and Nordic MySpace records for the number of plays of an entire album within a one-week period. In Flames A Sense of Purpose was streamed over 1 million times as part of its MySpace “album premiere” for the week ending April 2, 2008.

On the topic of A Sense of Purpose’s first week sales and chart placements, In Flames - as a collective – comments, “It feels extremely good that Swedish metal can receive this kind of attention in the U.S. We are really looking forward to traveling to the States and to performing the new songs live on the ‘Gigantour’. Led by the roll out single, 'The Mirror’s Truth', In Flames’ A Sense of Purpose was released in North America on April 1 via Koch Records. The album was recorded at the band’s all new IF Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden and mixed by Toby Wright (METALLICA, SLAYER). In support of A Sense of Purpose, In Flames will tour North America as one of the featured acts of Gigantour 2008. In Flames has been handpicked by MEGADETH’s Dave Mustaine to provide direct support to his legendary metal band on the 29 city tour that will also include CHILDREN OF BODOM, JOB FOR A COWBOY and HIGH ON FIRE. Gigantour will kick off on April 12 in Denver, CO.
