Special report by BW&BK;'s Mark Gromen:

"Just a kid with a camera, shooting from the crowd: no photo pit, no knowledge, just a fan’s perspective. 25 or more years later, these photos are being shown for the first time! What they may lack in quality, they make up for archival significance. June 27, 1982, the German metallers the SCORPIONS co-headlined the Spectrum, in Philadelphia, PA. That was the first show I ever shot. A year later (December 30th, 1983), an upstart foursome of San Francisco youths called METALLICA were schooled on the art of manipulating a crowd, opening for club champions TWISTED SISTER at the Fountain Casino, Aberdeen, NJ (but that's a forthcoming gallery). Stoic, but for the affable bassist Cliff Burton, it was great way to see Kill ‘Em All-era Metallica. Note the bullet belt wristbands!"
