April 24, 2008, 16 years ago
Creators of Québec's High School Tribute project have sent BW&BK; the following press release:
We're to announce the release of a tribute CD to METALLICA produced by students from La Frontalière High School, located in Coaticook, Québec, Canada. Teach ‘Em All: A High School Tribute To Metallica will be officially released on Friday, May the 23rd 2008 at 8:00 pm at the Pavillon des Arts et de la Culture in Coaticook. For the occasion a two-hour show will be presented. However, the CD is available NOW for purchase.
The High School Tribute project is now in its third appearance. In 2006 and 2007 we produced two tributes to KISS: Christine Sixteen and Christine Sixteen 2. These CD (500 and 600 copies respectively) were sold in more than 20 countries around the world, from Brazil to Japan. Furthermore, the students/singers went to the Grand Opening of the KISS Coffeehouse in Myrtle Beach during the month of June 2006. They had the pleasure of meeting Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley privately. These 2 founding members of KISS knew about the project and said they were really impressed by the quality of the production of the CD and the talent of the singers.
The goal of this non-profitable project is to give some talented young people the experience of creating a music album from start to finish. We also try to help them discover, and appreciate a kind of music that they aren't usually accustomed to - different from what the usual Top 40 and MOR radio stations play. All the singers are regular students from the High School and the musicians are all former students of that same school.
For this year’s project we are lucky enough to welcome two additional and very talented musicians on board. First, Angelo Coppola from Detroit, a 12 year old drummer sensation. Angelo was the winner of the television show - America’s Most Talented Kids - a couple of years ago. He will play on two songs. Also, we are really proud and excited to welcome John JD DeServio of BLACK LABEL SOCIETY and CYCLE OF PAIN fame. JD will also play on two songs on the upcoming CD.
