SAXON - St. George's Day Set One For The Record Books!
April 26, 2008, 16 years ago
In the spirit of British pride, SAXON played a special, fan-selected set on April 23rd to celebrate St. George's Day. Supported by SWEET SAVAGE and GIRLSCHOOL (what year is it again?), the gig was held at Shepherd's Bush Empire and was dubbed the St. George's Day Massacre. Until the evening's end, Biff Byford and crew kept to the internet contest winner's handpicked selections, when there were a few "changes." Regardless, the choices are doubtful to ever be repeated in the same night, ever again.
In order: 'Princess Of The Night', 'Let Me Feel Your Power', 'Lionheart', 'Never Surrender', 'Iron Wheels', 'Jack Tar', 'The Thin Red Line', 'Witchfinder General', 'Sixth Form Girls' (performed for the first time!), 'I've Got To Rock To Stay Alive', 'Attila The Hun', 'And The Bands Played On', 'Power And The Glory'. The first encore consisted of 'State Of Grace', '747 (Strangers In The Night)', 'Denim And Leather' and 'Ashes To Ashes'. The band left the stage, only to return for 'Crusader.' What a night!
