Swedish Black Metallers VANDÖD have added a track for free download to their MySpace page. 'Bastard King' is taken from the band’s latest album, As, which saw it’s release on Ex Mortem Records during 2007.

Formed in 2004 by guitarist Henrik Wendel and drummer Daniel Wikforss, Wendel’s years of playing in local orchestras allowed the pair to develop their own sound, which, whilst being undeniably Scandinavian, sets Vandöd apart from the majority of black metal bands. It was this different sound that attracted Niclas Ankarbranth’s attention when he heard Wendel and Wikforss experimenting with a track in the studio, and he became the band’s vocalist. They were joined in late 2007 by PROSECUTOR vocalist Martin Linde on bass, who replaced the departing Ville Kemi.

According to Wendel the band decided to offer the track for free download to celebrate the launch of the new Vandöd website. “It’s pretty much a new beginning, or rather the beginning of the next stage in the band’s progression. We now have a new bass player whose enthusiasm puts us all to shame, and we have started writing for the new album, so we wanted to thank all the fans who support us and who write to us all the time on our MySpace page. We have always prided ourselves on being accessible to them, so this is just the first in a handful of interesting developments we will be launching over the coming weeks, including a brand new distro called Misantropia (www.misantropia.se). This was Martin’s idea and he will be handling it personally. It’s not something that he has set up specifically for Vandöd merchandise, rather he is hoping to interest other bands so that it becomes a natural resource centre for bands who find it hard to sell their merch because they have no distribution.”

The video below was produced by Kalle Kronhamn for the track 'Burden Of Eden' from Vandöd 2007 Album As.
