Iced-Earth.net has just conducted an interesting interview with the legendary David DeFeis, VIRGIN STEELE's frontman.

The following is an excerpt:

Q: It has been a pretty long time since we heard about Virgin Steele. What are you guys up to?

A: "Actually we have been quite active. In February we put out the reissues of Noble Savage and Age Of Consent, with more bonus tracks and new packaging, and I have been involved in negotiations for the next new Virgin Steele album. I have only just recently resolved that issue, and now I am writing and recording what will be the next album, as well as preparing the reissues of LIfe Among The Ruins and The Marriage Of Heaven & Hell Part 1 and The Marriage Of Heaven & Hell Part 2 albums. All three will contain bonus tracks and new booklets."

Q: There were/are some rumors about you working on a new live DVD; how true is that?

A: "Always. We are always filming and stockpiling videos and such for the DVD. Now that the label situation is finally re-organized, we will get going on completing the DVD. It will be quite awhile yet before it sees completion, but it will be quite extensive once it is ready."

Q: The last studio album, Visions Of Eden, dates back from 2006. What’s in store for the next period? I read about the new contract with Dockyard 1. When will the next VS masterpiece see the light of day?

A: "Visions Of Eden came out in September of 2006, so it was only a year and a half ago, and it never came out in the USA, so I am also in addition to everything else I just mentioned, now negotiating with labels for the release of most of the catalogue in the USA. The new album should be out sometime between January and March of 2009 if all goes as planned. I hope to have the three reissues I mentioned out fairly soon. Life Among The Ruins might possibly contain a second bonus disc, as I have been recording several tracks that seem to sound quite comfortable next to some of the songs on that album."

Q: What will the forthcoming album bring new?

A: "I have been writing so much…. I have enough music for three albums now, and… I am still composing, so it is difficult to say what will be on the very next album. I have to make a serious choice about that soon, other wise I will just keep on going and have to release a box set! I have some absolutely heavy things, some atmospheric tracks, some epics, moody, melancholy things, all sorts of bits…"
