AC/DC Lane In Melbourne Hit With Fiery Blaze

Tomorrow's all-ages gig in AC/DC lane featuring Melbourne punk band THE LIVING END will go ahead despite the fiery blaze that hit buildings in the laneway last night.
Fans could only get tickets to the private show through a competition on youth radio station Triple J.
The Living End plan to film the concert for a DVD.
Concerns about the cancellation of the gig arose when a fire broke out in offices on the first floor of a building on the corner of Flinders Lane and AC/DC Lane.
Iconic Melbourne bar Cherry was water damaged due to the fire but could reopen as early as next week. Cherry was going to be used as the green room for the Living End.
Bar staff were evacuated at 7.30pm when the fire started last night. There were no patrons inside at the time.
The fire also ripped through the offices of Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant and a Melbourne business, CBD Group in Flinders Lane, near the corner of AC/DC Lane. The restaurant itself is several blocks away in Collins Street.
Surrounding restaurants and bars, including The Italian and Rosati, were evacuated when the fire broke out. Smoke filled The Italian during the blaze.
Cherry manager James Young said he was allowed into the AC/DC Lane building soon after 9pm last night after the blaze was extinguished.
"I might be optimistic but once we dry out the carpet and clean up the place, we could be open as early as next week, providing dirty rock 'n' roll to the people of Melbourne."Read more here.
