Louisiana-based metallers PSYCHOMETRY are hard at work on their upcoming new album, The Four Points, for which they enlisted SUFFOCATION drummer Mike Smith.

The band have issued the following update:

"'Into the Silent Ocean' and 'Cyrus 'were received yesterday. We are excited about the ideas that Mike is presenting. As you know, songwriting is a constant work in progress, and this endeavor is an amazing experience. The band is rehearsing as often as time allows, and progress is steady. I don't know of many bands who work in this fashion, but it does force us to be a little more self disiplined than normal.

We have also begun teaching songs to the viola player, Andy Jolley. Cheramie is working very hard to notate all of the necessary parts for the album. Synths will never match the acoustic sounds of real strings, and with Andy's assistance we will have a very symphonic feel.

Hal has completed the artwork, which we will show in a video blog soon. He is a fantastic artist and very innovative. He has also been laying down some brutal tracks that work well with Tareq's haunting vocal melodies. The contrast between the two has added a very dark element to the band.

It is our belief that this album will bring something unique to the metal scene. There are several different styles that will be represented in this album, but each song is a complete idea in and of itself. We have been getting very good responses from a wide variety of people, which leads us to believe that The Four Points will have something for everyone."

Psychometry's forthcoming The Four Points album is expected to see a release in late 2008/early 2009. More details to follow.
