As previously reported E-FORCE - featuring ex-VOIVOD frontman Eric Forrest - will play the 2008 edition of the Raismes Fest, scheduled for September 13th - 14th in Raismes, France. According to Forrest, AGGRESSOR / LOUDBLAST guitarist Alex-Colin Tocquaine will perform with the band on the day as rhythm guitarist. The set will feature tracks from the new E-FORCE album, Modified Poison, as well as a few Voivod classics.

BW&BK; recently caught up Forrest to discuss Modified Poison. The following is an excerpt from the interview:

“The first record came out in October 2003, so when I moved to France it took some time to find new members and play some shows,” Forrest says of the long wait between albums. “At the beginning of 2005 we had the chance to tour, and it was either then or never if I wanted to support Evil Forces. After we took a break for six months, parted ways with the touring members which was for the better, found a guitar player and started writing. From that point I started shopping for a new label and had to wait about a year for the release of Modified Poison, which really wasn’t my decision. But, it’s finally out there.”

Still, Forrest is satisfied with the end result more than he is frustrated with releasing what is essentially “old” material.

“It’s a bit of both, really. Like any artist I want to top my last creation, but going from Day 1 to hearing it now I have a different opinion about the music compared to a fan, who finds it fresh and new. But, going with the vision I had, working with different players and, in a way, maximizing everything, I’m happy with it. It’s still pretty rewarding.”
