Taranaki Daily News has issued the following report from Greta Cleary and Matt Rilkoff:

Two guitar legends of different eras combined to raise the roof of the world's most unlikely rock and roll venue yesterday.

Former SCORIONS guitarist ULI JON ROTH and GUNS N' ROSES axeman GILBY CLARKE let loose with an extended version of BOB DYLAN's 'Knocking On Heaven's Door' at the decidedly un-rock'n'roll like Opunake High School hall.

As the song's momentum built so did the excitement and energy of their 200-strong audience.

The pair were playing at the final Sky Academy guitar workshop as part of this week's G-TARanaki international guitar festival.

Before showing everyone just why they are thought of as two of the best guitar players in the world they offered some advice to younger guitarists wishing to crack into the big time.

Roth was most pointed, offering technical tips to the teenage workshop participants that seemed to make sense at the time.

"You need to build a stronger relationship with your fourth finger; at the moment you are a little bit like a wild horse; you're not riding the horse, the horse is riding you," he advised one player.
