RAZOR / BOBNOXIOUS frontman Bob Reid contacted BW&BK; to inform us that Razor and ANVIL will play a one-off show at Rock N' Roll Heaven in Toronto on August 8th to celebrate the birthday of close friend and metal guru Ray "Black Metal" Wallace. Anvil has confirmed the date on their official website. Show details will be announced as we get them.

Wallace, also a close friend and staunch supporter of BW&BK;, passed away on November 27th, 2007 after suffering a cerebral aneurysm.

In a recent interview with BW&BK; about Bobnoxious' new album, SuperScar, Reid talked about his relationship with Wallace.

“I met Ray when I was in (previous band) SFH. We played with Sacrifice in ‘86 or ’87; I can't remember exactly. When I joined Razor in ‘88 I got to see more of Ray, and in ‘90 we did a Canadian tour together (Razor / Sacrifice), and that's when I really got to know Black Metal. From there it was all about music. We booked shows over the years, got together when I would come up to Toronto for SFH or Razor shows. In 2002, when I was putting Bobnoxious together, that's when Ray and I started working together again, but this time we were more 'seasoned' music gurus who thought we could take Bobnoxious to the next level. Man, we had our share of shit over the years. We would fight over ideas, fight over gigs when things would go wrong, but Ray would never lose his cool... just me. Then he would calm me down and we'd be buddies again.”
“We had some plans for SuperScar and sadly Ray left us. Most of the music for SuperScar was done before Ray passed away, but I did all the vocals and wrote three or four songs after he died. But I can tell you, since the day he died, since his service, I had his memoriam card literally two feet from my face when I recorded the vocals. I stared into his eyes singing almost the whole record. I loved the guy; he’s my friend and I miss him. It was very hard to play the show at Rock 'N' Roll Heaven in Toronto after his funeral, as it was the last gig that Ray had booked for Bobnoxious. The following weekend we returned to the same venue, this time as Razor to show our respect and play for Ray's last party with our longtime friends Sacrifice and Anvil. He wanted so much for Razor, Anvil and Sacrifice to get the recognition he thought these bands – his bands – deserved and later felt the same way for Bobnoxious. Ray had a passion for music like no other...and I never saw him get paid. What a guy.”
