According to Thisisbath.co.uk, a heavy metal music festival starring an Eurovision Contest-winning act at Bath Racecourse later this month has been cancelled.
The promoters of the Black Swan Festival have issued an outspoken statement calling off the event scheduled for September 27, describing the process of trying to organise the extravaganza as “a total nightmare”.
The event would have featured the Finnish act LORDI, who won the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest.
The festival had been organised by Oxfordshire-based Midnight Star Promotions which said the event had had to be cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances”.
The Lansdown course was the latest venue chosen by the firm for the concert.
Midnight Star Promotions’s statement said: “This is the not the first bump in the road we have had; in fact, it has been a total nightmare to try and keep this festival together, with one problem after another. This one has finally knocked us down and we are not getting back up from it. I can and will tell you that there will be no Black Swan Festival next year, or any other year, for that matter, as financially, physically and mentally, this has drained us.”
A statement on Lordi’s website said the band - famous for their monster-like costumes - were disappointed at the cancellation.
“It’s been way too long since we last played in the UK,” said guitarist Amen.
The line-up also included MAYHEM and DISCHARGE.
