HallOfMetal.com recently caught up with BLESSED BY A BROKEN HEART guitarist Shred Sean to discuss the band's new album, Pedal To The Metal. Following is an excerpt from the interview:

Q: The purpose of your music is to entertain and to have fun with it, and with Pedal To The Metal I think you have hit the nail even more than with All Is Fair In Love And War. Your music have turned from metalcore into a more open and diverse style including rock and pop touches. Was it done deliberately since hard rock is again in a good shape nowadays?

Sean: "I don't think anyone in the band was happy with the music after the All Is Fair CD. The band picked me up after they recorded that, with the intention of getting a shred guitar player to go in more of an '80s direction and move away from the straight up metalcore scene. I’m happy we did this, as I would not be in the band if it was like the last record. The whole '80s thing wasn’t done intentionally, we all just love '80s music I grew up copping licks form the guitar players of that era."

Q: For me, your new effort is one of the most diverse and fresh albums of the year. In this album we can hear metalcore tracks like 'She Wolf', hard rock tunes like 'To Be Young' or even funny and electronic songs like 'Move Your Body' (what it seems your new anthem) that invites you to have party with. Are you happy and satisfied with the final result of the album?

Sean: "We like metal, we like dance, we even like classic rock so that’s what we write, plain and simple. I do feel that the album has a cohesive feeling to it, the feel good vibe. While there may be a few different crossings of genres within the record like 'To Be Young' being hard rock, and 'Move Your Body' having a dance vibe, it all comes together, nothing sounds out of context. I think most musicians are never satisfied with anything they've ever done. I always feel like I can do something better but I think we did a good job on this record. I think the playing is strong and the songs are solid."
