As previously reported, METALLICA are to play a one-off charity gig on September 15 at London's O2 with tickets priced at just £5.

MTV.co.uk are reporting that the 15,000 fans attending the gig will not have to wait at box-offices to collect tickets and instead an innovative Paperless Ticketing system will be used.

Gig-goers using a credit or debit card to buy their tickets will not be sent a paper ticket but instead only have to swipe their payment card to gain entry into the venue.

This is the first time this system had been used within Europe. Ticketmaster, the company pioneering the technology, claim this is not only better for fans but also helps reduce secondary ticket sales by touts.

Ticketmaster adds: "Metallica want to ensure that all the proceeds from this launch party to go directly to charity. They also want the audience to be all Fan Club and Mission Metallica members. By working closely with Ticketmaster and their Paperless Ticket technology we can deliver the band's wishes and minimise the possibility of charitable tickets being resold in the secondary market."
