BW&BK; has received the following press release:
Former Megadeth ax-slinger Chris Poland is the brains behind metal fusion band OHM: currently on Tone Center Records. This long awaited album is a masterpiece metal/rock fusion.
Since 1997, OHM: has been breathing new life into the L.A. rock fusion scene, constantly writing, recording and gigging their highly original and captivating brand of instrumental music – Inspired by the likes of King Crimson, Return to Forever, Mahavishnu Orchestra, as well as incorporating the band members’ rock/metal influences.
OHM: has toured the United States with guitarists such as Frank Gambale (Chick Corea, VITAL INFORMATION), Marty Friedman (Megadeth), and Alex Skolnick (TESTAMENT, TRANS-SIBERIAL ORCHESTRA, SAVATAGE), as well as opening for famed jamband Umphrey’s McGee on their 2006 tour.
OHM: guitarist Chris Poland is best known for his phenomenal guitar work with Megadeth on their first two records and on 2004’s acclaimed The System Has Failed. After releasing a record on A&M; records with his former band DAMN THE MACHINE and several critically acclaimed solo records later, Poland continues to evolve to new heights with his progressive fusion trio OHM: From lush soundscapes to super shredding, his incredible use of legato phrases and tremolo bar create an exotic flow of notes which somehow bring order to the chaos.
Robertino Pagliari, OHM:’s master of the fretless bass has played with many well-known L.A. fusion artists and has become a fixture on the elite Los Angeles fusion scene. His sassy, powerful bass lines and technical wizardry make him one of the most innovative bass stylists on the scene today.
OHM:’s drummer Frank Briggs is a monster progressive fusion drummer who’s playing evokes memories of the great Tony Williams and Billy Cobham. Brigg’s is a veteran session player who has worked with a veritable “Who’s Who” of progressive fusion artists. Also drumming on Circus Of Sound is Ginger Baker’s son Kofi Baker and Joel Taylor, famous for his work with Allan Holdsworth.
