Vocalist Joe Lynn Turner (ex-DEEP PURPLE/RAINBOW/YNGWIE MALMSTEEN), bassist Phil Soussan (ex-OZZY OSBOURNE), guitarist Carlos Cavazo (ex-QUIET RIOT), along with drummer Simon Wright (ex-AC/DC, DIO) and keyboardist Alex Bubenheim are in Iraq (under the moniker BIG NOIZE) and are performing a special concert today (September 11th) for US Troops, which will mark the 7th anniversary of the 9-11 terrorist attacks in the USA. One of the most anticipated highlights of this show is the premier of the new song, 'Battlefields', inspired by the brave men and women who defend our freedom all over the globe.

Here is an earlier Bagdad concert report from the Big Noize/Iraq tour from Eric F. Mejia, Lt Col, USAF:

"On September 9, 2008, Big Noize played a free concert for the US and Coalition forces at Forward Operating Base Shield in Baghdad. After the sound check, the band enjoyed an outdoor barbeque while hanging out with the troops. The band kicked off around 8:00 o'clock and played one 2 ½ hour set, composed mostly of hits from Rainbow, Quiet Riot, AC/DC, Deep Purple and Ozzy. While the performance of each of the band members was outstanding, the enthusiasm of the crowd and the band was what made it one of the most memorable concerts I've attended. The audience of mostly young soldiers head banged non-stop and then began crowd surfing. The band joined in with Joe surfing out across the crowd. However, the most spectacular sight of the evening was provided by the Iraqis living at a neighboring compound. Approximately 50 Iraqis climbed the 20 foot tall concrete wall and then danced and generally rocked out for the rest of the evening. The band then stayed and signed autographs an d visited for another hour or more. All in all, it was the best evening that this place has seen - ever. Thanks to the band for a great show and thanks for coming to visit us at FOB Shield. Take care, good luck and safe journeys."
