TicketNews has issued the following report from Tim Fraser:

As rockers AC/DC prepare to hit the road this October for the first time since 2001, their fans have shown their support by making the tour the top selling event for the week ending September 21. Most of the tickets for the North American leg of their "Black Ice World Tour" went on sale this past week, helping move AC/DC up seven spots from last weeks number eight position. The band also announced this week that it would use paperless ticket technology for members for their Fan Club who purchase select seats on the tour.

AC/DC finished with a power score of 8.90, more than double that of runner-up Wicked which finished at 4.26. This week marked the 17th consecutive week that the musical ranked in the top three for top events. Last week's number one, METALLICA, dropped from the top spot down to number three with a power score of 2.94. Playing in the final game at Yankee Stadium last night, September 21, helped bolster the New York Yankees to the number four spot in the top event rankings with a power score of 2.47. Four of the final six in the rankings came from the National Football League with the Dallas Cowboys finishing the highest, at number five, with a power score of 2.34.

As much as AC/DC was able to dominate the top events, they did even better in the top concerts for the week. They finished with a power score of 24.04, more than sixteen points ahead of second place Metallica (7.95 power score). It was the first time the top concert draw finished more than ten points higher than the runner-up since MADONNA did so in the last week of May. The remainder of the top ten stayed the same with the only newcomer of the week being NEIL YOUNG, who will soon be headed on tour with WILCO and DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE.
