Former L.A. GUNS singer Paul Black checks in with BW&BK; with the following update:

"Hey everyone. Tonight is the first show with my new band. We' ll be playing a lot of new songs . It's called Paul, Jo, Muddy, Dennis for now. It's the best band I've ever been in, sounds like THE FACES meets ROLLING STONES but very unique. We're at a restaurant /bar called Mr B's at 1333 Hollywood Way - Burbank, California . We go on at 10 PM . Hope to see ya there.

Regarding the BLACK CHERRY reunion on October 16th at the Viper Room, I had planned on doing a reunion show with Black Cherry a couple years ago even before I reunited with L.A. Guns. We had planned to do it at the Whisky A Go Go with JET BOY. Unfortunately, some of the people we were working with to put the show on made decisions that made it unfeasible for us to do it at that time and we had to back out. Then, I got busy touring and couldn’t find the time but we all kept in touch. We knew eventually we were gonna do it. Scott Lipps and I finally put everything into action a couple months ago. We found out when everyone could make the trip to L.A. and then he booked the show at the Viper and asked Jet Boy and Gilby to do it with us. It was really easy. Everyone is really excited about it.

I stayed in contact with Curtis (rhythm guitarist Curtis Grant, who died of non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma March, 2007 at age 39) until the end. Everyone in the band took it really hard. Curtis was such a lovable person and he really touched all of us. He really wanted to do this show with us. It’s really sad. I know he’ll be with us in spirit though. I most admired his enthusiasm, his good nature, His dedication… he knew what it meant to be a band. And, he taught us all.

There will be a 7-song CD for sale entitled Ashes To Diamonds available at the show for Curtis. Tell us about those initial recordings and how important it is to you to keep the memory of Curtis and Black Cherry alive.

I’ve started pre production for a record I’m doing in November with Alexis Records. I have Jo Almeida on guitar, Muddy Stardust on bass and Dennis Morehouse on drums. It’s absolutely the best band I’ve ever been in."
