TED NUGENT - multi-platinum guitar icon, author, outspoken activist, outdoorsman and host of the popular Outdoor Channel TV show Ted Nugent Spirit Of The Wild - has launched his latest assault onto the New York Times bestseller list as his book Ted, White And Blue: The Nugent Manifesto enters the Top 10 at #8. This marks the fiercely independent rock legend’s second time charting on the New York Times bestseller list, a spot he achieved with God, Guns, and Rock 'n' Roll (2000). Ted’s other successful books include Kill It And Grill It, Blood Trails: The Truth About Bowhunting And Blood Trails II.
Released October 6th via Regnery Publishing, Ted, White And Blue: The Nugent Manifesto is comprised of 16 chapters on how to fix America. Ted, who minces no words about the state of our government (“Fedzilla”), describes the book as "Brutal honesty and irrefutable evidence that the amazing quality American Dream that is my life is available to anyone willing to fight for rugged individualism and genuine independence by putting their heart and soul into being the very best that they can be, even when it is difficult and trying.” He adds: “If a wild guitar player like me can be an asset to self, family, community, country, mankind and the good earth, nobody has an excuse to be a liability. Doing the right thing is ridiculously easy and always much more satisfying."
2008 has been a watermark year for the rock legend who has sold over 35 million albums. Ted completed his 50th tour in 2008 which included his 6,000th performance, celebrated in his Detroit hometown on July 4th. Ted released his 36th album Sweden Rocks in June and also made his feature film debut this summer in the film Beer For My Horses, which stars Toby Keith and also features Rodney Carrington, Claire Forlani, Tom Skerritt and Willie Nelson. Ted also lent his voice and likeness to Guitar Hero® World Tour - due out October 26th - joining the all-star cast of rock legends to be featured in the game including JIMI HENDRIX, OZZY OSBOURNE and STING. Aspiring axe shredders will be able to challenge The Nuge in an epic guitar duel, tear up the six string as the music icon’s in-game character, or jam alongside the Motor City Madman as he rocks his 1975 smash hit 'Stranglehold'.
Acclaimed for his bold, insightful commentary on issues ranging from the American Dream to bio-diversity, Nugent is a regular guest on top-rated programs like Larry King Live, Howard Stern, The O'Reilly Factor, Hannity & Colmes, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck Program, Red Eye and more. Nugent’s own Spirit Of the Wild television show has for the fourth time been voted #1 Hunting Show on the Outdoor Channel. And Ted’s 2005 reality show, Wanted: Ted Or Alive was ranked as OLN’s highest-rated original series.
A recipient of numerous commendations from state police, sheriff departments, FBI and police agencies nationwide, Nugent has been lauded for his Ted Nugent Kamp for Kids and Freedom’s Angels, along with work as a national spokesman for D.A.R.E and as Ambassador for Big Brothers/Big Sisters and the Pass It On Outdoor Mentors Program.
Ted continues to fight for personal freedoms on the lecture circuit, and as an author, he’s an award-winning writer for over 40 publications. Ted was approached directly by John F. Kennedy, Jr. to write for George magazine, and the result was Nuge's infamous This Land is My Land, This Land is My Land piece. Nugent's writings were instrumental in his being named Top 25 Most Influential by Outdoor Life magazine (December/January 2008). This issue profiled the 25 leaders, innovators, conservationists and unsung heroes who have had a major positive impact on the outdoor sports. Ted was honored in the Leaders Category, "who by their individual efforts and sheer strength of will have had the strongest impact on the hunting and fishing scene."
Ted has been re-elected for his fifth term on the Board of Directors of the NRA. Recognized as America's Number One proponent of the Second Amendment, Ted has served continuously since his initial election to the Board in 1995. In 2008, he debuted a new song, 'I Am The NRA', at the NRA National Convention.
