The partner of a heavy metal drummer has paid tribute to the "regular guy" who tragically died after a fall.
Hartlepool musician Graeme Crallan, who formed rock band WHITE SPIRIT with Janick Gers of IRON MAIDEN fame, died after banging his head during a fit outside his London home, an inquest heard.
Graeme, affectionately nicknamed, Crash by his friends, died on July 27 after the accident left him "brain stem dead", according to a pathologist.
Graeme's partner of 13 years, Mike Jackson, said: "Graeme was just a regular guy who loved music.
"Sadly, he had issues with alcohol but it only became a problem in the last year. He had tried to stop and was taking the drums up again when this happened."He had been warned several times that sudden withdrawal from alcohol without alternative therapy is dangerous and he had several seizures as a result of doing this.
"We believe he died as a result of this, but we take comfort in the fact that Graeme died on a day that he was feeling strong, managing to fight this illness and live for another day."
